The Car Build

In the second year of the CRC Build for the Future scholarship program, CRC is proud to sponsor a special build that will be auctioned to raise funding for trade school scholarships: the world’s first hydrogen-powered 1957 Chevy Bel Air to be auctioned to the public. The car will be unveiled at the 2024 SEMA Car Show in Las Vegas.

First Hydrogen Powered '57 Chevy
This beautifully restored vehicle, featuring a striking red and black interior, is powered by a hydrogen-fueled, Edelbrock-supercharged Gen3 HEMI engine, designed by Mike Copeland, CEO of Arrington Performance and retired GM engineer.

This hot rod proves that high performance and eco-friendly fuel can coexist without sacrificing the signature feel, sound, and horsepower of a traditional gasoline engine. Assembled by renowned racing legends Clay Millican and Jeff Lutz, this one-of-a-kind build also boasts a TCI automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes.

First Ever Hydrogen Powered 1957 Chevy
The 1957 Chevy Bel Air represents CRC’s commitment to driving innovation forward while honoring the past. It’s not just a car—it’s a glimpse into the future of high-performance vehicles.
